Restricting Clock-in Sources in FRIDAY #

Objective: To maintain the integrity of your time-tracking data by restricting clock-in access to specific sources (Web, Mobile, or Tablet) based on company policy. Limiting where employees can clock in is a powerful way to prevent time fraud and ensure that your team is using company-approved devices or platforms. This guide will show you how to customize these permissions.

Prerequisites #

  • Access Level: You must be logged in as an Administrator.

Step-by-Step Instructions #

Navigate to Time Tracking Settings {audience: admin} #

  • Log in to your FRIDAY admin account.
  • Click on Settings in the bottom-left sidebar.
  • Select Company Settings from the menu.
  • Click on Time Tracking to open the configuration dashboard.

Configure Approved Clock-In Methods {audience: admin} #

Locate the section for clock-in methods. You will see three primary options. Check the boxes you wish to allow and uncheck those you wish to restrict:

  • Web: Employees clock in via a desktop or laptop browser.
  • Mobile: Employees clock in using the FRIDAY mobile app on their smartphones.
  • Tablet: Employees clock in via a shared company tablet or kiosk station.

Save and Verify {audience: admin} #

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
  • Confirm Access: It is recommended to have a team member attempt to clock in using a restricted method to ensure the settings have propagated correctly.

Important Considerations #

Before disabling a method (like Mobile), ensure your employees have reliable access to the alternative (like a central Kiosk or Desktop) to avoid missed punches and manual payroll adjustments.

  • Policy Alignment: Ensure these settings match your written employee handbook to avoid confusion.
  • Regular Audits: Periodically review these settings, especially after hiring remote staff or opening new office locations.

Efficiency Tips #

  • Staff Communication: Send a quick announcement to your team if you change these methods so they aren’t caught off guard at the start of their shift.
  • Kiosk Mode: If you use the Tablet method, consider setting the tablet to “Guided Access” or “Kiosk Mode” to keep the app open at all times.
