Adjusting Time Zone Settings in FRIDAY #
Setting the correct time zone is critical for maintaining the accuracy of your time logs, ensuring payroll compliance, and providing clear data for reporting. This guide walks you through how to configure these settings.
Objective #
To align the FRIDAY platform with your business’s physical location to ensure every clock-in and clock-out is recorded at the correct local time.
Prerequisites #
- Access Level: You must be logged in as an Administrator.
- Future Impact: Note that changes to the time zone apply only to future entries; previously recorded time logs will remain unchanged.
Step-by-Step Instructions #
Navigate to Settings {audience: admin} #
- Log in to your FRIDAY admin dashboard.
- Click on Settings in the bottom-left sidebar.
- Select Company Settings from the menu.
Access the Time Configuration #
- Within Company Settings, locate and click on the Time Travel tab.
Select Your Location or GMT Offset #
- Look for the dropdown menu to choose your time zone.
- Search by City: Select the city that matches your current location.
- Using GMT Offsets: If your specific city is not listed, choose a city that shares the same GMT Offset.
Save Changes #
- After selecting the correct city, scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Click Save to apply the new time zone to the platform.
Important Considerations #
- No Retroactive Updates: Changing the time zone will not fix old time entries. If an employee clocked in at the wrong time yesterday, you will need to manually edit that specific entry in the Timesheets section.
- Physical Alignment: Always ensure the time zone matches where the employees are physically working to avoid legal or payroll discrepancies.
- GMT Verification: Double-check the GMT offset if you are unsure which city to select.
Efficiency Tips #
- Location Changes: If your company opens a new branch in a different region, review if a separate pay group or schedule with a different time zone is required.
- Team Communication: Notify your staff when you update the time zone so they are aware of why their “Current Time” display on the dashboard may have shifted.
