Make it about them.

When meeting or connecting with someone, make it about them. Start showing some excitement about meeting them. Be a good listener, it's enticing to want to pitch in and sell your services right away, but first, take some time to listen.

Value first.

Before making an ask, find ways to offer value. This could be as simple as making a referral from your network for something they need or providing a possible solution to a problem they’re facing.

Build a relationship.

By focusing on them and offering value first, you build the relationship on a foundation of trust. This makes selling much easier, as they will come to you to make a purchase without you having to sell them directly.
