Know how to give proper feedback.
Know what words to use and when to say something. We all have different communication styles, and it is important to know how each member of your team communicates best. Additionally, you must remember to create the next steps so that the feedback serves a purpose and is actionable.
Hold employees Accountable.
- Implement one on one meetings.
- Have clear expectations.
- Be consistent regarding follow-up.
- Allow for mistakes, yet create the next steps so they should not be repeated.
- Do not micromanage.
Build Employees' Strengths.
When employees work from their strengths, it helps prevent burnout and frustration. Take a strengths test, and ask them what they enjoy doing. Build an employee strength matrix, a simple Excel spreadsheet outlining their job responsibilities and measuring them based on their performance; and give them primarily jobs in the areas they do well.
